Rumors Cast and Crew

Matt Greseth (Director) has received a theatre degree from North Dakota State University and a MFA in directing from the University of Montana.  For the past 5 years he has been the artistic director for Urban Samurai.  He has also acted and directed for nimbus Productions and Chameleon Theatre Circle, since moving here in 2004.  He would like to thank you, from the bottom of his heart, for supporting the Minneapolis theatre community.

Stacey Britt (Stage Manager) is excited to be with Urban Samurai for a second time as stage manager, after stage managing the fringe show Power Lunch. She has been freelancing in the Twin Cities since she graduated from Bethel University in 2010. Some of her favorite shows to be involved with have been Hamlet and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead at TRP, and Little Shop of Horrors with YAI. In her free time she loves to crochet, see shows, explore Uptown, and hang out with friends. Theatre consumes her waking hours and is so grateful to be a part of the magic! It’s been an absolute joy!

Grant Merges (Lighting Designer) is a freelance lighting designer based in the Twin Cities. He received his MFA in Lighting Design from Minnesota State University, Mankato. Grant is pleased to be working with Urban Samurai Productions for the fourth time. He previously served as lighting designer for A Few Good Men, Leave and [title of show].

Jennifer Andacht is a Milwaukee WI native and is thrilled to make her Urban Samurai debut with Rumors. She was seen in 20% Theatre Company's Anon as Gretchen last season, and most recently played the very challenging leading role of Bride in her wedding this July. Jennifer moved to the Twin Cities from the land of cheese to tour with CLIMB Theatre in their performing company, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin--Parkside in 2007 with a BA in Theatre, and concentrations in Acting and Theatre Education. Some past credits include; I Remember Mama (Mama), Thoroughly Modern Millie (Mrs. Meres), and Leading Ladies (Meg), with The Huron Playhouse; Closer (Anna), with For People Productions; The Imaginary Invalid (Beline), The Exonnerated (Sunny), and Macbeth (Lady McDuff), with UW-Parkside; and The Wizard of Oz (Wicked Witch) with Prairie Fire Children's Theatre. In addition to acting, Jennifer also has a passion for Children's Theatre, and is excited to further pursue the education side of theatre in the Twin Cities. Jenny would like to send her love to her incredibly supportive family in WI and to her wonderful husband Derek.

Derek Ewing (Officer Welch) is thrilled to be collaborating on another project with Urban Samurai. It was this time last year that he became a member with this powerfully talented group of artists. His most recent USP roles include Tyson, Leave and Dawson, A Few Good Men. In addition to acting he spends much of his time directing; recently working on the successful Title of Show. Lastly, he would like to thank his family, friends, and the other members of Urban Samurai for all of their love and support, especially his wife, Jenny; "thanks for making the mistake to marry me..."

Ryan Grimes (Ken Gorman)

Nate Hessburg (Ernie Cusack) is very excited to be back on the stage for USP.  He received his bachelor of arts from Viterbo University in La Crosse, WI and has been acting around town ever since.  Some of his favorite shows have been Closer, Protection Program, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, and A Few Good Men.  He is also been a long standing performer with ComedySportz Twin Cities in Calhoun Square.  He feels very happy to be working with such a talented group of people on this show.  He sends out much love to his parents for allowing him to get a degree in theater and to his wife and daughter for there undying love and support.

Peter Simmons (Glenn Cooper) has been a performer in the Twin Cities for over 30 years.  His theater credits include Nimbus Theater, Urban Samurai, Bloomington Civic Theater, Frank Theater, Side Show Street Theater, and Commedia Theater Company. After receiving his training in classical theater at North Carolina School of the Arts, Peter has since concentrated on comedy for most of his career, performing as a stand-up comic at Scott Hanson’s Comedy Gallery as well as assorted other clubs, co-founding Theater Sportz Improv Competition in Minneapolis, and, for the past 18 years, playing dozens of roles for Mystery Café Comedy Dinner theater.   Peter has also created and performed in hundreds of private corporate training and entertainment events.

Danielle Siver (Claire Ganz) has happily lived and performed in Minnesota for the past 6 years. She has performed with many local companies, including 20% Theatre Co. (Celeste & Starla Save Todd & Win Back the Day, After Juliet, elephant shoes and olive juice), Upright Egg Theatre Co. (VENUS: a play about energy, The Chuck Mee Project, Present Projects 2007-'10), Classical Actors Ensemble (All's Well That Ends Well), Mad Munchkin Productions (Snow Bound!), and Theatre Pro Rata (The Spanish Tragedy). You can see her next this November performing in Richard II with Classical Actors Ensemble.

Paul Somers (Lenny Ganz) is happy to be working with Urban Samurai again, having performed in Drama: A Comedy: Or, Apocalypse Tuesday in 2010. A Native of Waseca, MN, Paul earned his B.S. in Theatre Arts from Mankato State University. He has performed as Hugh Butternut in Triple Espresso since 2003, performing all across the country as well as in Dublin, Ireland.  He has also appeared at the Jon Hassler Theater in The Odd Couple, Simon’s Night, Grand Opening, and Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol, and with the Lake Pepin Players in their production of The Fantasticks, featuring Gary Sandy. Paul was a founding member of the Merlin Players, based in Faribault, MN, and he has toured with CLIMB Theater and the National Theater for Children. His commercial credits include ads for Subway, Green Mill and Best Buy. Paul’s favorite role is that of father to his four (that’s right, FOUR) sons Jack, Gregory, William and Alec, without whose love and support this performing thing would not be possible.

Katie Starks (Cassie Cooper) has been an avid viewer and participant of twin cities theatre for over 8 years now and has fallen head over heels in love. Katie is a graduate of Metropolitan State University with a BA in theatre. She is thrilled to be working with USP once again, after previously working backstage on Halfway Home in 2009. Katie is a company member of 20% Theatre Company as well as Freshwater Theatre. Katie is currently helping to produce The Book of Liz and Dirty Girls Come Clean with Freshwater running September 10-24 at The Nimbus Theatre and The Birth of Venus with 20% running October 8-23 at Cedar Riverside Peoples Center. Katie would like to thank her families (theatre and otherwise) for their unending support.

Marcia Svaleson (Chris Gorman) is back onstage and couldn't be happier about it. Her recent projects include choreography for Power Lunch and [title of show], costumes for Leave and A Few Good Men. She is also a ninja. She loves the show, and her uber talented cast-mates. And she'd like to tell Neil Simon to 'sit on it.' In the nicest way possible.
